  • CAYA U8/U9 North Girls - due to the rescheduled training and field restraints. The girls will train on Daly Sevens at the slightly earlier time of 4:45-6:15pm. Daly Sevens will be on your left as you pull into the park and is the 2nd turf field closest field to the road.

NCYSA WAIVER REQUIRED - All those families who will be new to NYCSA Youth Academy this spring MUST bring an original completed waiver form with them to practice this evening and hand to their regional director. The form can be found on the left hand side of the blog.

FA CUP MAGIC AND WHY WE ALL LOVE THIS GAME
This past weekend there were some unbelievable results in England both in the FA Cup and football league. Here is a quick recap of the major shocks and a few quick highlight videos for your child to watch.
Cambridge Untied 0        Manchester United 0
The U’s who currently lie in 13th place in League Twoc (4th tier of English football) incredibly forced a replay against Manchester United following a resolute defensive display. They will now go to Old Trafford where they will earn a large sum of money in gate receipts and TV money which will allow them to be financially secure for a number of years.

Bradford City arguably pulled off one of the biggest shocks EVER in FA Cup history. They trailed Chelsea 2-0 towards the end of the first half. The Bantams pulled one back before the break to go in 2-1 down. No one would have predicted what ensued, as Bradford went on to score 3 more goals in front of 6,000 traveling fans. A result like this to a premier league side would have been a shock but to the 7th place team in League One (3rd tier) is even CRAZIER!

To keep the cup shock theme going, Middlesbrough of the Championship (2nd tier) managed to record a clean sheet against the Champions of England, while registering two goals in the second half to record a famous victory away from home at the Etihad.

Finally, one other result which goes to show why we love this game of soccer… Blackpool who lie at the foot of the Championship table (24th place) traveled to Watford. The Seasiders were leading 2-0 af half time and must have thought the 3 points were in the bag, as they allowed Watford to score 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half on their way to a 7-2 victory.
I guess the saying is true, "Its a funny old game!"

Finally, there will be an NCCL schedule update out to everyone tomorrow.
