CAYA REMINDERS/UPDATES 11/7

CAYA Cup
Thank you to everyone all for your understanding last week regarding the last minute cancellation of the CAYA Cup. We were really saddened to have to cancel the event as a lot of time and effort went into trying to create a fun filled soccer event for everyone involved. We are looking at rescheduling the day for pre-season in the spring as a great way to get things kicked off in style. More info to come.

Reminders:

  • Thursday, 11/6 was the last training session for the U9 boys & girls and U10 girls for November.
  • ONLY the U10 boys will train next week in preparation for the Boys CASL Shootout.
  • We will resume training in December, BUT will only train on Monday, 12/1, 12/8 and 12/15. There will be no Thursday training.
  • Futsal will begin on Saturday's in December and will be held on 12/6, 12/13. 12/20. (Schedule to come).

CAYA Spring Registration
We hope that both you and your player have enjoyed the fall season and want to continue with the CAYA program moving into the spring. The staff  are excited about the upcoming winter training sessions and futsal games. We are continually looking to further the program and currently we are trying to put a lot of planning in place so we can improve a number of things moving into the spring season. With that said we would like to encourage you to do one of two things:

  1. RETURNING: Please register for the spring season by clicking HERE. By registering ASAP this allows the CAYA staff to plan and prepare accordingly given those players who are returning for the spring season.
  2. NOT RETURNING: Please communicate your player's decision with your area director. Your child will still be able to participate for the remainder of 2014 season up until the end of this calendar year, including the winter Monday training sessions and futsal games in December. Your decision and honesty will be respected and greatly appreciated as it will allow us to plan accordingly given the number of players within the program.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!

The FA Cup - First Round
The FA Cup is the oldest domestic cup competition in the world and this weeked marks the first round proper for the 2014/2015 season. There have been four qualifying rounds that have taken place so far. The competition contains teams semi-professional teams in the early rounds and as the competition progresses bigger teams enter, with the likes of Chelsea and Man City coming into the mix in the fourth round but teams like Man Utd, who are not in European competition will enter in the 3rd round, 736 teams in total are set to compete in this year's competition. The highlights for this weekend are my team FC Halifax Town taking on local rivals Bradford City. The teams are 3 divisions apart with my team being part-timers and getting the chance to make a name of themselves. This game will be shown on Fox Soccer Plus

England just like the US, loves an underdog and there are not too many competitions where everyday people get the opportunity to compete against superstars. Here is a player by player guide on Warrington Town, one of many non-league teams hoping to cause an upset again higher opposition. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29839201. Wouldn't it be great to see some students, a pizza delivery guy and a window cleaner take on the mega rich superstars of Chelsea in a few rounds...

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend!
